The UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) for Law is conducted to determine the eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges.The UGC NET (Law) eligibility criteria, in short and to the point, are:I. Educational QualificationDegree Required: A Master’s Degree (LL.M. or equivalent) is required.Minimum Marks (General/EWS): Must secure at least 55% marks (without rounding off).Minimum Marks (Reserved Categories): Must secure at least 50% marks (without rounding off) for OBC (NCL), SC, ST, PwD, and Transgender candidates.Final Year Students: Candidates in the final year/semester can apply provisionally, but must meet the percentage requirement within two years of the NET result.II. Age LimitA. For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)Upper Age Limit (General): Maximum 31 years (as on the first day of the month the exam concludes).Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years relaxation for reserved categories (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, Transgender, and Women applicants).LL.M. The UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) for Law is conducted to determine the eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges.
The UGC NET (Law) eligibility criteria, in short and to the point, are:
I. Educational Qualification
- Degree Required: A Master’s Degree (LL.M. or equivalent) is required.
- Minimum Marks (General/EWS): Must secure at least 55% marks (without rounding off).
- Minimum Marks (Reserved Categories): Must secure at least 50% marks (without rounding off) for OBC (NCL), SC, ST, PwD, and Transgender candidates.
- Final Year Students: Candidates in the final year/semester can apply provisionally, but must meet the percentage requirement within two years of the NET result.
II. Age Limit
A. For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)
- Upper Age Limit (General): Maximum 31 years (as on the first day of the month the exam concludes).
- Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years relaxation for reserved categories (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, Transgender, and Women applicants).
- LL.M. Relaxation: 3 years age relaxation is provided to LL.M. degree holders.
B. For Assistant Professor
- Upper Age Limit: No upper age limit.
